We began the creation of Pets Rock some 17 years ago. The characters were inspired by the British adage that “people look like their pets” or perhaps it’s the other way around….
The artworks were very detailed and intricate and the files were very large, they could be printed on a huge scale, storeys high, far bigger than anyone thought necessary. But that was the point, to go beyond what was required, to be passionate, to give more, to take things to a new level. It was our mission and a driving force from the start to imbue them with detail, depth and personality. To create a world of Pets Rock to share. ‘More Fun Than Fame’ has been our strapline and our motto throughout. Don’t take life too seriously, have fun, share the joy.
Over the years we’ve been approached numerous times by companies interested to buy the brand and we’d be crazy not to have considered the options but each time we’ve decided that this isn’t for us. We’ve felt that those companies were just interested in what they could get out of Pets Rock, not what Pets Rock could give to others. So we turned them down and stayed in the business of laughs.
When we met Mark Chang of Joy Paw Paw it was a totally different experience. He had a completely different outlook from all of those corporate companies. He just got Pets Rock and what the brand means from the start, he was as passionate as we were. Joy Paw Paw’s ethos was aligned perfectly with ours. We knew we had met someone with the ability to go way beyond our capabilities, to embrace all of the opportunities the digital world has to offer and to be an innovator from the start. Joy Paw Paws plans, their vision and expertise will take Pets Rock further than we had dreamed possible, taking Pets Rock on a wild new journey into the metaverse. We can’t wait to see what happens next.
